1. Gridyssey and the beta

Gridyssey is operated by Scott Bowes, trading as Gridyssey, at 11 Woodend, Worksop, S80 3HD, United Kingdom. It is a location-based photographic atlas: you can explore mapped squares, record places and photographs, and choose how to share supported content. This is a controlled, non-commercial beta with access arranged by Gridyssey. Public registration is currently closed. When invited registration opens, a valid beta registration code, an account and email verification are required. An invitation does not guarantee permanent access or a particular feature. No paid plan or subscription is offered under these beta Terms.

You must be 18 or over to take part in this beta. New invited registration requires confirmation of that minimum age, agreement to these Terms and the Community Guidelines, and acknowledgement that the Privacy Notice was provided. That acknowledgement is not consent to optional marketing or future sharing with a third-party AI service. We do not assume that existing members accepted a newly published version merely because it has been published.

2. Your account

Give accurate account details and keep your password and sign-in methods secure. Do not share or transfer your account. Tell us through the available support route if you suspect unauthorised access. You are responsible for what you choose to record and share through your account, subject to our own duties under applicable law. You can manage supported privacy settings and request deletion as described in the Privacy Policy.

3. Explore safely and lawfully

A Gridyssey square, map, route or place label is not a statement that land is public, accessible, safe or lawful to enter. Conditions, boundaries, rights of way, opening times, terrain and hazards can change or be wrong. Check the real place, obey signs and local rules, respect private property and obtain permission where needed. Do not trespass, enter restricted or dangerous areas, disturb wildlife or put yourself or others at risk to visit or photograph a square. Do not use Gridyssey while doing something that requires your attention, such as driving.

Location services and map/geocoding/routing providers can be unavailable or inaccurate. Do not rely on Gridyssey for emergency navigation or safety decisions. This safety guidance does not remove any responsibility Gridyssey has under law.

4. Your photographs and other content

You keep any rights you have in photographs, text and other material you submit. You must have the rights and permissions needed to upload and share it, including where other people or private places are identifiable. Choose visibility carefully: public, Friend and private content have different audiences; Following alone never grants Friend access. A public visit-share link can be opened by anyone who has it and may be passed on or captured by others.

You grant Gridyssey a non-exclusive licence to store, copy, resize, re-encode, analyse, display and transmit your submitted content only as needed to operate, secure, moderate and provide the Gridyssey features you use, according to your visibility choices and the Privacy Policy. This includes making derivatives for supported screens and sharing with people you authorise. The licence ends when the content is removed from the service, except for restricted copies lawfully retained for safety, disputes, legal obligations or backup expiry as explained in the Privacy Policy. It does not transfer ownership of your work or authorise unrelated advertising or marketing use.

Do not falsify visits, impersonate others, violate another person's privacy or rights, harass people, distribute illegal or exploitative material, spam, manipulate service metrics, or interfere with Gridyssey systems or security. The Community Guidelines explain the expected conduct in plain language and form part of these Terms.

5. Social features, reports and moderation

Friendship is reciprocal. Following is one-way and gives access only to material that the viewer is otherwise allowed to see. Blocking and reporting tools help manage interactions but cannot guarantee that content already viewed or copied elsewhere disappears.

Gridyssey's current Smart Media processing uses local automated signals alongside human review to assess photographs and prevent abuse. Additional AI recognition under development is not active in this beta. The Privacy Notice explains the current processing.

A photograph may be rejected, held for review or removed; an account may receive a warning, proportionate restriction, suspension or termination for a breach, security risk or legal reason. We consider the evidence, seriousness, repetition and context. We will explain the relevant reason where appropriate and consider a challenge sent to support@gridyssey.app. We may act urgently where safety or law requires it, or limit details where disclosure would expose a person or undermine a necessary investigation. We do not promise continuous monitoring or that every contribution is checked before publication.

6. Availability, changes and third parties

This is a beta. Features, limits and availability may change; interruptions and data-sync delays can occur. Changes may be needed to fix faults, protect users, comply with law or test the service. We will take reasonable care in operating the service and give appropriate notice of material changes where practical. A change will not remove rights you already have under applicable law. Do not treat unsynchronised offline work as safely stored on the server until it has uploaded.

Map tiles, geocoding, routing, push delivery, email and app distribution can involve third-party services. Their availability and data processing are described, where applicable, in the Privacy Policy. Links to another service do not mean Gridyssey controls that service.

The Gridyssey name, GYS1 grid system, application design, code and other Gridyssey assets remain ours or their licensors' property. These Terms give you permission to use the service for its intended beta purpose, not to copy or misuse those assets.

7. Suspension, deletion and ending the beta

You can use Settings → Account & password → Delete account, or the account deletion page. Deleting an app does not delete its account. If you cannot sign in, contact privacy@gridyssey.app so we can consider a verified request. We may restrict or close an account for a serious or repeated breach, security risk or legal reason, with notice and an opportunity to challenge where appropriate. We may end or change the beta with reasonable notice where practical. The Privacy Notice explains deletion, limited retained evidence and backups. Existing recipients may keep copies of content they received.

8. Responsibility and legal rights

Gridyssey cannot promise that every map, route, user contribution or beta feature is accurate or continuously available. We remain responsible for the duties that applicable law places on us. Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, fraudulent misrepresentation, or any other liability that cannot lawfully be excluded. Your statutory consumer rights remain unaffected.

These Terms do not remove rights or court access available to you under applicable law.

We will publish the version/date of changes and give appropriate notice of material changes to these Terms. If new agreement is required, we will seek it through an appropriate process; we will not invent a historic acceptance record.
