Community Guidelines
Version: 2026-10-02.beta.1 Effective date and last updated: 2 October 2026
Gridyssey is a photographic atlas of real places. The best contributions help others see a place with care. These guidelines apply to photographs, captions, visits, profiles, reports and interactions in the 18+ invited beta.
Respect people
- Be civil. Do not bully, harass, threaten, stalk, intimidate or direct hateful or degrading abuse at someone.
- Do not impersonate another person or organisation, spam, manipulate engagement, or use Gridyssey to deceive people.
- Do not publish private details about another person, including a home address, precise whereabouts or contact information, without a sound reason and permission where required. Think before photographing or naming people, especially anyone vulnerable or unexpectedly identifiable.
Respect places and wildlife
- A map square is not permission to enter. Follow access rules, signs and opening times. Stay off private or restricted land unless you have permission; do not trespass or take risks to complete a square.
- Leave places as you found them. Avoid damage, litter, disturbance or unsafe behaviour. Do not encourage others to enter hazardous places or break the law.
- Do not use Gridyssey in a distracting way while driving, cycling or operating a vehicle. Stop somewhere safe before using the app.
- Give wildlife space. Do not bait, handle, chase or deliberately distress animals for a photograph or to complete a square. Do not disturb nests, dens or sensitive habitats.
- Avoid sharing precise locations where doing so could put wildlife, sensitive sites or other people at risk.
Share work you may share
- Upload photographs and words you created or have permission to use. Respect copyright, image rights and people's privacy. Do not submit misleading or fabricated visit records or claim someone else's photograph as your own.
- Do not post illegal material, sexual exploitation or abuse, non-consensual intimate images, gratuitously graphic violence, credible threats or instructions for serious harm. Mature subject matter that is lawful can still be unsuitable for a location-photography community; use judgement and respect moderation decisions.
- Choose public, Friend or private visibility with care. Following someone does not reveal their Friend-only material. Public share links can travel beyond the person you send them to.
Reporting and moderation
Use Gridyssey's report and block controls where available, or contact abuse@gridyssey.app for a safety concern. Give enough context to investigate without circulating harmful material more widely. For an immediate emergency, use the relevant emergency service rather than waiting for Gridyssey.
Gridyssey's current Smart Media checks can flag or reject photographs using local automated signals; authorised human moderators can review decisions and reports. Additional AI recognition under development is not active. The Privacy Notice explains current processing.
Outcomes can include no action, a warning, proportionate content restriction/removal or account restriction/suspension, depending on the evidence, seriousness, repetition and risk. We do not promise that every item is reviewed before it appears or that reporting guarantees removal. If you think a decision is wrong, email support@gridyssey.app with the relevant content or account reference so we can consider the context and review it. Do not send harmful material again when a reference is sufficient.
